For my graded unit last year, I was given the task of creating a series of posters to advertise a special screening at a film festival that would be celebrating a director of my choice. The posters were to be recognisable as a group, and were also to reflect the director's film style. For this particular project, I chose my favourite director, Richard Linklater. His films are all very 'hand-made' and real - they represent life as it truly is without all the regular Hollywood glamour. I tried to recreate this feeling by creating the posters with only hand-generated techniques - layering and ripping paper, cutting out letters, taking photographs etc. I thoroughly enjoyed this project, as it gave me a lot of creative freedom, and allowed me to explore and express my understanding of his films.
