Hello, my name is Heather Hughes, currently I am a junior freelance Graphic designer from Glasgow, Scotland. I have always been interested in art and design from a young age, I started off taking more of a fine art approach, from sketches to detailed paintings which also helped in the way that I design now. Eventually I moved into the more advertising and towards everything that graphic design is. The start of my interest was when in my spare time I would watch photoshop or illustrator tutorials, before eventually applying for a place at college. I've spent a total of 4 years at college, this year being my last year. I hope to spread my wings a bit and get out into the real world and to get a clearer idea of how the industry works

During my time at college I have learned a lot of new skills, and would now say I'm efficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and also have experience in Muse, Premier Pro, Bridge and Audition. Also, because of my time at college, I have designed many; posters, booklets, logos and different types of branding. One of which I have won a prize for.

I am confident in dealing with different types of people and their individual needs, I have good organizational and time management skills from years of practice and am good at hitting deadlines. Through the research I’ve done over the years on graphics design courses, I have been inspired by a lot of different styles and approaches and this has solidified that this is the career path

that I want to do. Within graphics design there is illustration, 3D design and typography, I’m always playing around with text to make it look as artistic and clean as possible. Typography and minimalism is always something I’ve also really been passionate about because I like that so much can be said with so little.
